BJP: No point in flag meetings
Slamming the Congress-led UPA for its “muted response” to the killing of two Indian soldiers at the LoC by Pakistani troops, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj on Monday sought revenge against the brutal beheading of one of the soldiers, Lance Naik Hemraj by Pakistani troops.
Ms Swaraj, after meeting the family of Hemraj in Mathura along with party chief Nitin Gadkari and senior leader Rajnath Singh said “If they don’t give us one head, we should bring back their 10 heads.” Ms Swaraj said the government should act tough on the issue as the country is angry. She said defence minister or at least the minister of state for defence should have attended the martyr’s funeral.
The main Opposition also demanded that India should take steps to “isolate” Pakistan on the issue of killing of two jawans and asked the government to raise the issue in the United Nations and other international forums.
“This incident has left a bad precedent for the whole country. Whatever the Pakistani troops have done, it should be condemned at the international level. It is sad that the Pakistan government is reacting in a way which is very upsetting... We should raise the issue in international platforms to isolate Pakistan... The Prime Minister should not keep quiet,” said Mr Gadkari.
Reacting to the flag meeting being held between India and Pakistan, senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha said that he does not see any point in holding these flag meetings with Pakistan. “I don’t think the flag meet will produce any results. I don’t know why it’s always India that initiates talks. There is no use of having discussions. If they cut the heads of our soldiers, we should give them a similar and fitting reply,” Mr Sinha said.
