BJP pins high hopes on Patna meet, rally

The BJP hopes its national executive meeting and rally in Patna next week to be a “historic occasion” for the party and its prospects in the nation’s politics from now up to 2014 as Assembly polls in 25 states would be held during this period, beginning with Bihar in November.

“Bihar has been a land of inspiration for all of us who draw inspiration from JP (Jayaprakash Narayan), and Bihar is famous for showing direction to the nation. The BJP will blow the conch shells for its future triumphs from the national executive meet being held here,” said BJP national general secretary Ananth Kumar, accompanied by a galaxy of senior party leaders, in Patna on Tuesday.
The two-day national executive meet, being held on June 12 and 13, would be a major launch-pad for India’s main Opposition party raring to fire guided salvos at the ruling UPA. “The BJP will discuss its future strategy to fight the UPA government’s big scam of price rise, its step-motherly treatment to non-Congress state governments, and its failure to tackle terrorism, especially Maoist terrorism,” said Mr Kumar at a news conference.
Chief ministers of BJP-ruled states, their Cabinet ministers and senior leaders will participate both in the national executive’s deliberations and the massive rally the party has planned at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan on June 13, christened “Bihar Swabhiman Rally”, said Mr Kumar.
