BJP slams Jaitley’s detention
Criticising the detention of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, who was on his way to Kishtwar, at the Jammu airport, the BJP on Sunday termed the action “undemocratic.”
The party alleged that the action against its senior leader “shows that the state government does not want the truth about the Kishtwar violence to come out.” The BJP also accused the Omar Abdullah government of failing to protect the minorities in the state. The party also demanded that state minister Sajjad Kitchloo should be removed and an inquiry should be ordered over his alleged role in the riots in Kishtwar.
Terming Mr Jaitley’s detention as “highly condemnable,” BJP chief Rajnath Singh said “..It seems the government is trying to hide something... The BJP delegation to Kishtwar was an effort to take stock of the situation and help in building peace and harmony in the state.”
Mr Jaitley along with other senior party leaders were to reach Kishtwar on Sunday to take stock of the situation. He was not allowed to proceed to Kishtwar after he landed at Jammu airport on Sunday morning.
