BJP to UP unit: Get aggressive
After realising that the Samajwadi Party (SP) has gained politically by already initiating campaign against the Mayawati government, the BJP, which is desperately trying to revive itself in Uttar Pradesh, has directed its state unit to get more aggressive in its campaign against the state government. Assembly polls in the state are scheduled for next year. The party is already in touch with smaller parties in the state for a possible poll alliance.
The BJP leadership, it was learnt, got a feedback that the SP’s anti-Mayawati campaign has gathered much support among people and SP workers are more actively involved in the poll’s preparation than the BJP workers.
Taking serious note of this, the BJP’s central leadership has asked its state unit leaders to highlight “lawlessness” and the “jungle raj” prevailing under Mayawati rule in a more aggressive manner. The party has asked its state unit to involve all leaders, to project the BJP as the best alternative by highlighting “misdeeds” of the UP government and the UPA government’s failure in curbing corruption cases and price rise.
The BJP has already declared its senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Kalraj Mishra as election in-charge of the coming Assembly polls in the state. The party has also asked its state leaders to project a “united face” of the party in the poll-bound state. BJP’s state unit is often mired in internal bickering reports. The party has asked its state unit to concentrate more on the “floating voters”, who it thinks want a change from the present and previous governments.
A working group, consisting of senior leaders from the state and central leadership, has also been constituted for the UP polls.
