BJP unlikely to relent to BSY
While former Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa is claiming support of 62 of the 120 MLAs of the BJP in Karnataka, a section of senior leaders claimed that there were only “a dozen MPs, who could remain loyal to him.”
Sources disclosed that Mr Advani indicated that “even if the BJP government in Karnataka falls because of Yeddyu-rappa, the party should not concede.”
While the elections are slated for May 2013, the governor, Mr H.R. Bhardwaj, “may go for dissolution of Assembly, if the government is reduced to minority,” a senior BJP functionary said.
In Jharkhand, the RS drama continued throughout the day, with Anshuman Mishra taking on the senior BJP leadership, which include Yashwant Sinha and L.K. Advani.
In Delhi, senior leaders condemned his remarks and Ananth Kumar declared that party MLAs have been asked not to vote for Mr Mishra. Late in the evening, with defeat staring at his face, Mr Mishra was forced to withdraw his nomination. BJP initially faced revolt over some of its MLAs supporting Mr Mishra.
