BJP: Where is foreign policy?
The main Opposition BJP on Thursday asked the Centre that after the “blunder on Baluchistan” and “insult in Islamabad” where does India’s foreign policy stands. The party expressed dismay that even on the “sensitive” issue of Indo-Pakistan relations, the UPA government “cannot speak in one voice”. The BJP also accused external
affairs minister S.M. Krishna of “publicly insulting and humiliating” home secretary G.K. Pillai who had made the “right statements about Pakistan’s ISI and those involved in Mumbai terror attack”.
“External affairs minister S.M. Krishna has spoken again. We want to remind Mr Krishna that there is a thin line between sobriety and submission and we regret to say that he has transgressed this line,” said BJP chief spokesperson Ravishankar Prasad.
Coming in support of Mr Pillai, the main Opposition said the home secretary’s statement (based on David Headley’s interrogation) that the ISI and Pakistan Army were involved in the Mumbai terror attack was right. The BJP leader further alleged that when Mr Pillai was compared to JuD chief Hafiz Saeed, Mr Krishna kept silent and was now criticising the home secretary.
