BJP woos Meena leader Kirodi
After the reinduction of Uma Bharti into the party BJP leaders were trying to woo Meena strongman and Dausa MP Kirodi Lal Meena,who had put a spanner in the party’s way in the last Assembly elections. The senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, had called on Mr Meena recently during his Jaipur visit.
According to sources, the top BJP functionaries made a telephonic call to Mr Meena after Mr Jaitely’s visit. Though, both the sides described the meeting as a “courtesy-visit” but sources indicate that the saffron leaders were trying to bring back Mr Meena to the party fold. The state BJP chief Arun Chaturvedi was also with Mr Jaitely when both the leaders met.
Sources said it was not easy to make a comeback because Mr Meena has kept some conditions. He had revolted against the BJP when the then leadership of the BJP refused to accommodate his choice of candidates in Meena stronghold in eastern Rajasthan.
