BJP Workers Protest Against leader’s Arrest
The Opposition BJP workers and Rajput Sabha members on Saturday demonstrated at several places in Rajasthan against the arrest of party chief whip Rajendra Rathore in connection with the Dara Singh fake encounter case. The CBI arrested Rathore two days back and he was sent to Jaipur Central Jail.
BJP workers thronged to the streets in Jaipur and took out a procession against the CBI. The party said the Congress government was using the agency as its political tool. Leader of the Opposition Vasundhara Raje questioned the role of the CBI and said the agency selectively worked in cases like the murder of nurse Bhanwari Devi. She addressed party workers in Jaipur and said Rathore had been fabricated in a false case.
“We have seen how the CBI investigated the Bhanwari Devi case,” she said. She lashed out at chief minister Ashok Gehlot, saying had the chief minister taken any action in time, Bhanwari’s life would have been saved.
Karni Sena (a Rajput outfit) members hit the streets and staged demonstrations in Jaipur.
Karni Sena workers clashed with shopkeepers when they forced them to shut their shops. Shops and business establishments remained closed for half the day in Jaipur’s walled city.
The party workers also took out processions in Bikaner, Churu and Jhunjhunu and observed bandhs.
