Black box found
A DGCA official shows the black box of the Air India Express plane after it was recovered from the crash site in Mangalore on Tuesday. Investigators recovered the black box three days after the crash on Saturday that left 158 dead. The data recor-der could give vital clues to what caused the country’s worst air crash in a decade. The instrument was damaged on one side but DGCA officials said it was intact with the “main memory”.
The black box will be brought to New Delhi for a preliminary analysis amid reports that it may be later sent to the US for a detailed examination which could take a few weeks. DGCA officials said search operations had been called off following the recovery of the DFDR. Meanwhile, 22 yet-to-be-identified bodies have been preserved in morgues at different hospitals in Mangalore. PHOTO: PTI
