Boat capsizes in Gandak, 1 drowned, 9 missing
One person was drowned and nine others went missing as a boat carrying 11 people capsized in river Gangak in Salempur village in Bihar's Gopalganj district, an official said.
The boat lost control due to swirling wind and toppled over in midstresm, District Magistrate Pankaj Kumar said.
One person, identified as Dineshwar Mandal (40) - a native of Salempur village - was drowned and later his body fished out. Nine others were missing, he said.
An unidentified person was rescued by the local people in unconscious condition, he said, adding that he was admitted to hospital.
Kumar said that he along with other officials were camping to supervise search operation. All 11 persons onboard the boat were farm labourers of Salempur village and were going to collect fodder.
