Bodo outfit to intensify its agitation
The All Bodo Students Union has decided to intensify agitation for the separate Bodoland state comprising the Bodo dominated areas of Assam and present Bodoland Territorial Council of state.
Claiming that Bodo tribe is distinctly different from present dominant community of Assam, the powerful students union submitted a memorandum to the Union home minister P. Chidambaram in this regard.
All Bodo Students Union president Pramod Boro in his memorandum argued that they need separate Bodoland state to survive with identity and protection of language, culture, tradition, customs besides securing the land of plain tribe communities in Assam.
Mr Pramod Boro pointed out that the separate state was also necessary because two accords that led to formation of Bodoland Autonomous Council in 1993 and Bodoland Territorial Council in 2003 have failed to accommodate the hopes and aspirations of Bodos.

Inquiry after Pakistan pilot allowed to land
Thiruvananthapuram, July 4: Security agencies are investigating how a Pakistani pilot of a Gulf-based foreign airline was allowed to land here in violation of rules and even stayed overnight in a city hotel apparently without the knowledge of authorities.
The incident which has triggered a controversy and seen as a security breach happened two months back.
An assistant commissioner with the city police has been entrusted with the inquiry in the case focussing on how the pilot ventured out and managed to stay in the city without the knowledge of intelligence and security agencies, police sources said.
Khalid Rasheed, the pilot-in-command of Ethihad, flew a scheduled flight to the city on May 6 and stayed for a whole day in a five-star hotel in the city allegedly without informing the police or immigration authorities of his stay in the city, the sources said.
Sources said the case involved violation of a recent stringent circular restricting arrival of Pakistani pilots. —PTI
