BODO student union calls for bandh Aug. 2
The proposal to create Telangana has surcharged the atmosphere of Assam where powerful All-Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) on Tuesday threatened to launch vigorous mass movement while another faction led by the president of Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) and chief of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Hagrama Mahiliary air dashed to New Delhi to press for their demand of separate Bodoland in Assam.
ABSU president Pramod Boro told this newspaper, “We have been asking New Delhi to form a comprehensive and uniform policy for creation of new states but Congress-led UPA did not pay any heed. We are going to launch 12-hour rail bandh on August 2 followed by a 60-hour Assam bandh from August 5 to press for a separate Bodoland in Assam.”
