Body found near mall in Mumbai
The police has started investigating a case of a dead body, which was found near a mall in Goregaon late on Friday.
According to the Goregaon (east) police, a garbage van broke down near Hub Mall in Goregaon, and was being repaired at around 9.30 pm on Friday. After the repair was done, the driver was about to leave the spot, when he saw a metal box covered with a cloth at the side of the road. The box was placed among some stones at the construction site of a new bridge near the mall. Curious about the box, the driver went over to investigate and tried to open the lid, which was locked. “The driver was shocked when a hand sprang out of the box as soon as he opened it. Scared out of his wits, he left the van at the spot and fled the scene,” said the police.

Lanka boat crew rescued
Chennai : Five crew members of a Sri Lankan fishing boat were rescued by the Coast Guard near Andhra Pradesh coast, more than three weeks after they lost communication with their vessel owner, officials said here on Saturday. The Coast Guard launched a search and rescue operation to locate the fishermen following a request from Sri Lankan deputy high commission here and sighted the boat Pearl Ishara-3 on Friday, 41 nautical miles off Kalingapatnam, an ICG release said. The boat had left Dondra fishing harbour in Matara district of Sri Lanka on May 6. —PTI

Maoists kill SI in C’garh

Suspected Maoists on Saturday shot dead a sub-inspector (SI) of police at Banbe in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district, the police said.
Shiv Kumar Mundavi was sprayed with bullets by a group of Maoists when he was passing through the local weekly market in his motor cycle, the police said.
Mr Mundavi died on the spot.His body was later brought to Pakhanjore, the nearest block headquarter town.
Arrangements were being made to hand over the body to his family members.
