Book on long-lost Mansarovar route
The 7th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan-Border-Police (ITBP), which claimed to have rediscovered a lost trekking stretch connected to the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage route, on Thursday released a book which includes all the information of the ancient pilgrimage stretch.
The Gala to Kathgodam stretch was discovered after a team of the ITBP’s 7th Battalion embarked on a project to trace those routes that once “formed a part of the fabled Kailash-Mansarovar yatra”, said commandant A.P.S. Nimbadia, who led the ITBP team to discovery of the route.
Mr Nimbadia, the chief of the battalion based at Mirthi in Uttarakhand’s border district of Pithoragarh, was leading the team that conducted six expeditions to trace the route.
Mr Nimbadia stated that the rediscovered route can serve as an alternative stretch to the pilgrimage.
