Boy stabbed by classmates
A Class 10 boy studying at Mother’s International School, one of the city’s top educational institutions located on Aurobindo Marg, opposite IIT, is battling for his life at the AIIMS Trauma Centre after he was allegedly stabbed by two classmates on Friday afternoon.
The police said the victim has been identified as Shahrukh Khan, 16, a resident of the Khanpur area of South Delhi. He had gone to school on Friday morning to sit for an examination. “After the exam, he was coming out of the school when two of his classmates (names withheld as they are both minors) intercepted him and an argument started, which turned violent,” a senior police official said. It is learnt that the boys quarrelled over a love affair or some personal enmity.
“One of the assailants took out a knife and repeatedly stabbed the victim in his chest, arms and legs. Shahrukh suffered critical injuries and was left in a pool of blood by the two accused, who managed to escape. Some locals saw the victim writhing in pain and made a call to the police control room. The victim was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he was admitted in a critical state,” the official said.
“So far the victim’s statement has not been recorded as he is not fit (for this). The argument was apparently triggered over some personal enmity or a love affair,” the official said.
“One of the juveniles has been apprehended and sent to the juvenile justice board in accordance with provisions of the law. His associate is absconding,” said joint commissioner of police (southern range) Amulya Patnaik.
