The Scotland Yard has released nine of the 12 suspects it had arrested in connection with in connection with the attack on Lt. General Kuldip Singh Brar (Retd) in central London on September 30. However, three men arrested in West Midlands on Thursday are still in custody for questioning.
The nine people, who have been released from police custody, include two women arrested by the counter-terrorism command. They will have to present themselves to the police in November pending further inquiries.
The Met police is still questioning a 33-year-old man arrested in Wolverhampton and two men, 34 and 25 years old, who were arrested after being stopped in a car on a street in West Bromwich in the West Midlands area of England.
The UK Border Agency is investigating three men, 45, 29 and 28 years old, who were arrested at a residence at Holland Park in London. The three men are not connected with the Brar investigation and were arrested on suspicion of immigration matters, the Met police said.
The Met police also made another appeal for witnesses and information about the murderous attack on 78-year-old Gen. Brar, who has since returned to his home in Mumbai.
“Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have information about the incident. In particular they want to speak to those people who assisted the wife and the victim at the scene following the attack,” the Met police said in a statement on Saturday.
The Metropolitan police is still not releasing any details about the three suspects it is still questioning and nine others who have been released on bail. Scotland Yard insists its detectives have maintained an open mind regarding the motive for this attack and the investigation will continue to go where the evidence leads.
