Bribe: CBI court sentences Bangaru Laxman to 4 years in jail
Former BJP President Bangaru Laxman, convicted for accepting Rs one lakh bribe in a fictitious arms deal case, on Saturday sentenced for 4 years in jail.
The verdict was pronounced by CBI court in New Delhi. The court also imposes fine of Rs one lakh on Laxman.
He was found guilty under Section-9 of Prevention of Corruption Act.
Earlier on the day, sought leniency on the ground of poor health, while the CBI sought the maximum punishment of five years for him.
72-year-old Bangaru, who was on Friday held guilty in the case, was produced from Tihar Jail before Special CBI Judge Kanwal Jeet Arora.
