Brigadier reprimanded for ‘improper’ relations
A senior Army officer, in the rank of Brigadier, was strongly reprimanded by the Indian Army after a disciplinary probe found him guilty of indulging himself in an “improper” relation with the wife of another officer, one rank junior to him.
The accused officer, Brigadier K.P. Chand was posted as the deputy-director-general (DDG) of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in West Bengal, Army sources disclosed. An allegation of attempt to molestation had surfaced against him during his earlier stint in Punjab in 2010, the sources added. An Army officer, in the rank of a Colonel, had then accused Brigadier Chand of trying to molest his wife.
When the Brigadier was transferred to the Eastern Command to serve as the DDG of the NCC (West Bengal), a court of inquiry was initiated against him subsequently, disclosed an Army officer.
GOC-in-C of the Eastern Command, Lieutenant General Bikram Singh found Brigadier Chand guilty of “maintaining a direct contact improperly with a Colonel’s wife for a long period”, Army sources revealed.
Based on the court of inquiry findings, a showcause notice was issued to Brigadier Chand in 2010 seeking an explanation from him. Later, the Eastern Command authorities passed a final order of punishment noting “severe displeasure”.
