BSP lashes out at Akhilesh govt over attacks on dalits
The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), on Friday, lashed out against the Akhilesh Yadav government for increasing attacks on dalits.
Addressing a joint press conference here on Friday, Leader of the Opposition Swami Prasad Maurya and former minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui said that riots have already taken place in Pratapgarh and Kosi Kalan in which dalits, along with Muslims, were targeted.
“The entry of dalits has been banned in temples in Chandauli, Saharanpur, Ghaziabad and, in a shocking incident, dalits were trampled under the wheels of tractors in Etawah, which is the native district of the chief minister.
The two leaders claimed that “humanity has been put to shame in the four months of the Samajwadi Party government”.
The BSP leaders, cited an example to prove the “anti-dalit mentality” of the SP government and said that there was an attempt to flout the Centre’s guidelines in granting admissions in medical colleges set up by the previous government through the special component plan under which 70 per cent admissions should be ensured to students of the SC\STs.
“The state government is trying to overrule this order,” they said.
