BSY to bid bye to BJP with a bang
Former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa is set go on the offensive against his detractors at a rally scheduled hours before handing over the resignation letter to Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, K.G. Bopaiah, on November 30.
Sources close to the former chief minister told Deccan Chronicle that he would address his supporters and fans at a rally scheduled to be held at ‘Freedom Park’ before heading to the Speaker’s office on November 30.
At least 5000 people would gather at the rally to hear their leader when he lambastes leaders of BJP as well as of other parties. A couple of legislators would join him at ‘Freedom Park.’ The rally would be followed by a press conference, the sources added.
The sources said Mr Yeddyurappa plans to whip up much hype on the day of resignation, just as he did when he stepped down as Chief Minister last year. About 60 legislators and ministers had marched with the leader when he walked from his residence to Raj Bhavan to submit his resignation to Governor Hans Raj Bhardwaj in July 2011.
The sources said the former chief minister has made up his mind to quit on November 30. In case the Speaker has other engagements or away on tour of his constituency, the leader would submit his resignation letter to the secretary at legislature secretariat though it would be in violation of procedures that the letter should be submitted in person to Mr Bopaiah. Mr Yeddyurappa has decided to offer special pooja at Vaishno Devi temple before the launch of Karnataka Janata Party at Haveri on December 9.
Meanwhile, president of KJP V. Dhananjay Kumar has claimed that more than 50 legislators of BJP would attend the launch of the party at Haveri.
The party has invited 50 legislators to the event, and all of them have agreed to attend it. “We have not forced anyone to participate in the programme, but loyalist legislators have decided to attend the rally,” he added.
