C’garh: Cong to attack govt in session
The Monsoon Session of the Chhattisgarh Assembly, beginning on Monday, is likely to be stormy with the Opposition Congress gearing up to target the Raman Singh government for its alleged failure to tackle growing Maoist menace in the state.
The Congress Legislature Party (CLP), which met here on Sunday, decided to corner the BJP government on the floor of the House, highlighting “its misrule, which helped growth of Maoist menace in the state”. The CLP meet also alleged that the ineffective governance in the state has also emboldened the ultras to unleash reign of terror in their strong-holds.

Orissa to Centre: Need Rs 4,550cr for development

Apparently worried over the persistent backwardness of the KBK (Koraput-Bolangir-Kalahandi) districts, the Orissa government is desperately pleading with the Centre to release Rs 4,550 crores for the proposed 8-Year Perspective Plan to expedite development process in the region.
Chief minister Naveen Patnaik, while participating in the 55th Meeting of National Development Council deliberations at New Delhi raised the backwardness of the KBK region and said early release of funds would help the state government carry forward the development and welfare measures.

NHRC pulls up Assam for police inaction

The National Human Rights Commission has taken cognisance of cold-blooded murder of more than 144 civilians in past year by private militia backed by the ruling party in Western Assam’s Bodoland Territorial Council and served notice to the Assam chief secretary to clarify why the police has failed in investigating and filing charge-sheet.
The notice was served to Assam chief secretary on the basis of complaint filed by secretary of All Bodo Students Union before the commission in which it is alleged that more than 144 civilians have been killed in the four districts of Assam.
