Cabinet approves hike in DA for central government staff

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh-led Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Monday hiked the Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees and pensioners by seven percent.

The decision means that the DA will now be 72 per cent from the existing 65 per cent for over 80 lakh beneficiaries.

This was the first Cabinet meeting after Trinamool Congress's pull out from the ruling UPA coalition.
