Cabinet toils for perfect plenary
Delhi ministers led by chief minister Sheila Dikshit pulled up all socks to make the city a perfect host for the Congress plenary session in Burari. After slogging out for over a fortnight, Delhi ministers ensured that the delegates to the Congress plenary session are treated in the best possible manner.
All the ministers apart from Ms Dikshit chipped in to ensure that all services were in place.
Delhi revenue minister Raj Kumar Chouhan is being credited for setting up the mini-township made up of tents at Burari where about 15,000 delegates have come to attend the plenary.
Health minister Kiran Walia too played her part and set up an eight-bedded hospital at Burari to ensure that any medical emergency is attended to promptly. Urban development and finance minister, A.K. Walia, is being credited for having ensured that all basic amenities are in place at the venue. He oversaw the task of erecting 500 bathrooms and 1,000 toilets for the delegates.
Not to be left behind, industries minister Mangat Ram Singhal reportedly took the task of providing food to the delegates and assembled a team of 500 cooks at the venue. Transport minister Arvinder Singh Lovely is looking after all transportation needs.
Ms Dikshit on Sunday rushed to the control room with party leaders when the sound system gave away. The glitch was rectified before the top leadership started addressing the delegates.
Food and civil supplies minister Haroon Yusuf is credited for putting in place a media centre with the capacity of 100 people at the venue.
