Cachar scam: BJP runs video ‘proof’
The BJP on Sunday launched blistering attack on ruling Congress by displaying video footage indicating nexus of Congress minister with prime accused of the multi-crore-rupees North Cachar Hills scam.
BJP general secretary and in-charge of Assam affairs Vijay Goel said health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has so far been denying his link with R.H. Khan, key accused of Rs 1,000 crore scam of hills district.
Referring the video footage of a meeting between the minister and Khan, Mr Goel also slammed the government for not conducting inquiry into the alleged involvement of seven ministers into the scam.
In what has provoked the ruling party most the BJP leader said, “If the BJP comes to power in Assam, it will seize the property of corrupt ministers like Himanta Biswa Sarma and corrupt officials.”
Congress quickly rebutted the charges as minister addressing a public meeting at Golakganj said, “The BJP with 10 MLAs in the Assembly is having the dream of forming a government in 2011 so their commitments are a false propaganda to mislead the electorate.”
