CAG rejects rift with Sibal report
A week after the CAG and Union telecom minister Kapil Sibal took strong stands against each other following the latter’s comment that the CAG findings in the 2G spectrum were “utterly erroneous”, the CAG said that there was no “rift” between the audit body and the minister.
Talking with this correspondent, CAG media adviser B.S. Chauhan on Monday said, “The reports that there is a possible rift between the CAG and the Union telecom minister Kapil Sibal after the latter’s comments against the CAG are false and figment of imagination.” Challenging the media reports that the CAG had dispatched a letter to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for summoning Mr Sibal, Mr Chauhan said: “The CAG has not dispatched any letter for telecom minister’s summon.”
Meanwhile, there were also reports that the MPs of the ruling party are considering moving a privilege motion against the CAG in the Budget Session for CAG’s “attempt to gag” them.
