Cameron: Biz people can get same-day visa

Britain will introduce same-day visas for Indian businessmen wishing to invest there, Prime Minister David Cameron announced Monday as he sought a “special relationship” between the two nations, saying the “sky is the limit”.
Wooing Indian students, Mr Cameron also said there will be no limit on the number of Indian students studying in the UK. “I want Britain and India to have a special relationship... This is about the future, not the past,” Mr Cameron said in his first public engagement here — an interaction with the staff of Hindustan Unilever.
Mr Cameron, who arrived in Mumbai on Monday, on his second visit to India in three years, said his country will introduce a same-day visa service for businessmen. “We have the biggest visa operation right here in India. We are going to introduce for businesses a same-day visa service to those who want to come to our country and invest,” he told business leaders while speaking at the iconic Taj Mahal Hotel here. He was accompanied by over 100 top British businessmen to India.
On Tuesday he will hold talks in New Delhi with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on a range of issues, where the Indian side is likely to raise alleged kickbacks in the AgustaWestland VVIP helicopter deal.

PM: Ready to discuss copter deal in House
Age Correspondent
New Delhi, Feb. 18

Under pressure from the Opposition over the alleged role of middlemen and accusations of kickbacks in the VVIP helicopter deal, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Monday his government was ready to discuss the issue in Parliament in the Budget Session beginning Thursday.
Indicating he is equally concerned over the allegations, Dr Singh, talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function at Rashtrapati Bhavan, said: “We can always sit down. There’s scope for discussion. Parliament is a forum for discussion. We are ready to discuss all issues.”
The BJP has accused the government of a “coverup” in the purchase of 12 helicopters for `3,546 crores.
