Canada is reviewing visa denial
Canada is “reviewing the situation” arising from the denial of immigration visa to an Indian national, whose story was published by many newspapers here on Saturday.
“Decisions on visa applications are made by public servants following an independent process governed by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (and) I would like to stress that Canada has the highest regard for India’s democratic institutions and processes. Canada has great respect for India’s Armed Forces.

150 armed Naxals kill 5 in Bihar
Sheohar (Bihar) : Maoists raided a village in Bihar’s Sheohar district and shot dead five persons late on Friday night.
Around 150 armed Maoists raided Ramban Bazaar and shot dead the villagers and burnt 15 shops, deputy inspector general of police (Tirhut) Pankaj Darad said on Saturday.
The victims were identified as Sribhagwan Rai, Siyaram Rao, Mukesh Rai, Manohar Thakur and Rameshwar Thakur.
Another villager, Subodh Kumar Rao, who was injured, was admitted to a government hospital here, Mr Darad said.
The attack is believed to be a retaliation for killing of Maoist cadre Virendra Shah by villagers. —PTI

Jilted lover attempts to stab bride

A wedding celebration that was in progress at a hall in Sewree turned into a scene of violence after the bride’s jilted lover tried to stab her, while pretending to give her a wedding gift. Luckily, the bride escaped with minor injuries, while the assailant was overpowered and handed over to the police.
According to the R.A.K. Marg police, Asmita (name changed to protect identity) was married to a young man of her parents’ choice on Friday morning and was accepting gifts from relatives and well-wishers at her reception ceremony.
