Cancel pilgrims’ visit: India to Pak

India has conveyed to Islamabad that it was difficult to ensure the safety and security of Pakistani zayreen (pilgrims), who were scheduled to visit Ajmer on May 13 for participation in the annual Urs of saint Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti.
India officially conveyed this to Pakistan and cited the prevailing security environment in the country following recent bilateral incidents. The sources said the Pakistani delegation called off its proposed visit. According to sources, the India deputy high commissioner in Islamabad had conveyed it to Pakistani officials in a meeting on Friday.
The Indian side stated that India would not be in a position to ensure the security and safety of the group of Pakistani zayreen . The sources said India has recommended to the Pakistan the visit of its zayreen 2012 may therefore called off. The security has been beefed up in Ajmer in view of proposed visit of Pakistani zayreen to Ajmer for 801st Urs of Sufi saint Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti.
The right wing Hindu outfits and trade bodies joined hands to protest against if the Pakistani delegation visits Ajmer.
The administration had a meeting with local organisations and sought their cooperation but failed to yield any result.
The annual Urs made an informal start on Tuesday with waving of the Urs flag in the Shrine. But the Urs will start formally on May 11 or 12 subject to the sighting of the moon. Though the authorities in Ajmer were remained tight lipped on visit of Pakis-tani delegation. But it is expected that a contingent of Pakistani delegation will reach on May 13 and remain in Ajmer till May 19. The police staged a flag march in Ajmer and the police officials took stock of security arrangements. The administration, meanwhile, had a meeting on Thursday with local organisations, that included trade and business bodies and VHP, Shiv Sena and Bajarang Dal representatives.
The district magistrate Vaibhav Galriya and SP Gaurav Srivastva heard the organisations.
