Capital witnesses coldest Christmas in five years
Delhiites woke up to the coldest Christmas in five years on Sunday as the mercury plunged to the season's lowest of 2.9 degrees celsius.
Sunday's minimum was five degrees below normal. The minimum temperature on Saturday stood at 3.3 deg C.
The maximum temperature today is expected to hover around 19 deg C. The MeT had said the winter chill is here to stay for at least the next few days and predicted a further fall in minimum temperature on Christmas.
In December last year, the minimum had come down to 5.2 degree Celsius on the 22nd of the month. Humidity swung between a high and low of 93 and 33 per cent.
The record for the lowest minimum for the month of December is 1.1 deg C recorded on the 26th of the month in 1945 and the highest maximum was 29.3 deg C on third of the month in 1987.
