Hyderabad: A moving Swift Dzire car caught fire burning the driver alive on the PVNR Expressway at Upparpally on Friday evening. The car, which was coming to the city from Shamshabad, suddenly caught fire after a minor blast, police said. The car driver, who is yet to be identified, died on the spot. “The driver could not open the door and come out while the flames started spreading. He was trapped inside and burnt alive,” said Rajendranagar inspector Jayaram said.
As per the eye witnesses, at evening around 6:30pm, there was a sound and flames appeared on the front side of the car which was going on a high speed. "The car reached at pillar number 179 when the fire broke out. Few passengers informed police and fire control room suddenly," an eye witness said.
After receiving an intimation, a police team from Rajendranagar rushed to the spot. "We reached at the spot and put off the flames, however, by that time the entire parts of the vehicle was gutted," Inspector said. Police broke away the body parts of the car and took out the body of the victim, who was already dead.
As the number plate of the vehicle was also gutted completely, police could not identify the deceased. "We have not identified the victim yet since the entire documents are gutted in the fire. We have only got the engine number of the vehicle," Jayaram said.
Police yet to confirm what caused the blast and fire in the vehicle though initial suspicion is that the gas cylinder inside the vehicle was blasted. "We are trying to find out the owner of the car to confirm if gas was used in the car," the Inspector said. The police have registered a suspicious death case under the section 174 of the CrPC, and are investigating.

In a tragic incident, a moving Swift Desire car caught fire, burning its driver to death on the PVNR Express Highway at Upparpally on Friday evening. The car, which was approaching the city from Shamshabad, suddenly caught fire after a  minor blast, police said. The car driver, who is yet to be identified, died on the spot.

He was trapped inside and was burnt alive,” said Rajendranagar inspector Jayaram. According to eyewitnesses, in the evening at about 6.30 pm, there was a loud sound and flames appeared on the front of the car. “The car reached pillar number 179 when the fire broke out. A few onlookers quickly informed the police and the fire control room,” an eyewitness said.
After receiving the information, a police team from Rajendranagar rushed to the spot. “We reached the spot and doused the flames, however, by that time most of the vehicle was gutted,” the inspector said. Police had to break open the wreckage to recover the body of the victim.
As the number plate of the vehicle was burnt completely, police could not identify the deceased. “We have not identified the victim yet since the documents were charred. We have only got the engine number of the vehicle,” Jayaram said. Police is yet to confirm what caused the blast and fire in the vehicle, though initial suspicion is that the gas cylinder inside the vehicle exploded. “We are trying to find the owner of the car to confirm if gas was used,” the cops said. The police has registered a case.
