Car catches fire in UP, seven feared dead
At least seven persons were charred to death after their car caught fire here recently.
The vehicle, carrying 16 people returning from a wedding in Ghasholi village, went ablaze following a supposed explosion in the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) kit.
Though some persons made a successful escape, others, including women and children, were burnt alive.
Local police officials and fire tenders rushed to the site near Delhi-Saharanpur highway, and doused the flames.
A visibly shocked driver of the car shared the details of the incident with the reporters.
“The car was running on CNG. We ran out of gas, so we came here to get the car refilled with petrol. The fuel station attendant might have spilled some petrol on the heated engine after which the vehicle caught fire,” Manoj, the driver, said.
The injured were admitted to local hospitals. The police officials are yet to confirm the casualties.
