Carrot and stick policy for Munde
The impasse in the situation about whether or not BJP leader and MP Gopinath Munde will rem-ain with the party still continues, with the BJP alternately adopting the carrot and stick policy with Mr Munde. A meeting at Vidhan Bhavan on Tuesday afternoon, that was attended by party MPs and MLAs as well as a high profile meeting later at
Mr Mun-de’s Worli residence with Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Eknath Khadse and party state president Sudhir Mungantiwar, both failed to yield any concrete solutions.
The afternoon meeting turned out to be a summary affair, as the group of 20-odd MLAs and MPs came out in support of the senior leader from the state, who has been sulking for a few weeks as the party has not been meeting most of his demands and sidelining his supporters, after party president Nitin Gadkari came to the helm. However, at the meeting, which lasted barely 10 minutes, Mr Munde was not invited, which came as a surprise as the meeting was about him and his issues. Mr Khadse said the meeting had gone well, and that all MLAS and MPs were asked to take up any grievance they might have with the senior leaders on the phone.
