Cash in on anti-incumbency: Maya

BSP president Mayawati has asked her party cadres to cash in on the anti-incumbency factors confronting the SP government in Uttar Pradesh and the UPA government at the Centre in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing a meeting of state level office bearers here on Wednesday, MPs, legislators, former legislators and Lok Sabha candidates, Ms Mayawati asked BSP MPs, party legislators and Lok Sabha candidates to spend maximum time in their constituencies and connect with the people.
She said that the Samajwadi government had proved to be a failure at all levels, particularly the law and order front, people are extremely upset with the prevailing state of affairs.
“The people are not saying anything now but they will give a befitting reply to the Samajwadi Party in the elections. People are equally fed up with the UPA government at the Centre which is responsible for rising prices, corruption and unemployment,” she said.
The BSP president asked party men to gauge the mood of the voters and remind them of the BSP regime when criminal were inside jails and things were in control. She apprehended that the general elections could be held earlier than scheduled and asked party men to remain in a state of full preparedness. She said that she would again review the party’s preparedness after one month.
“You should ensure good results for the BSP so that our party can give a new direction to politics and make it more people-oriented,” she said.
In a rare gesture, Ms Mayawati appreciated the efforts of her party workers in discharging whatever duties she had assigned them and expanding the party’s vote base. She said that every BSP workers must make an effort to bring all sections of society into the party and treat them with respect.
She further called upon party cadres to fight against the atrocities of the Samajwadi government in a disciplined manner and within the parameters of law and democracy.
