CBI begins to question Jagan mohan Reddy
The CBI began to question on Sunday YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy who was arrested in the illegal assets case.
The interrogation is taking place at the officer's mess in the office of DGP (Prisons) near the Chanchalguda Central Jail in which Jagan is being lodged since May 28.
Emerging from the jail gate at around 10.30 am, the Kadapa MP greeted his supporters and partymen before the CBI team took him into the waiting vehicle for questioning. Sporting a white shirt, Jagan looked confident and fresh.
The High Court had on Saturday sent Jaganmohan Reddy to five-day custody of the CBI till June 7 and as per instructions from the court, the interrogation has to be done between 10.30 am and 5 pm in the presence of his two lawyers.
CBI was ordered by the High Court not to use third-degree means during the questioning process. It may be noted the agency grilled Jagan for three days before taking him into custody on May 27.
However, CBI told the court that Jagan was not cooperating and sought 10 days custody for further questioning.
According to sources, YSR Congress chief is being questioned on the investments made into his companies by various firms.
CBI believes the investments were made as quid pro quo in return for favours given by the then government led by Jagan's father Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
