CBI case on Mickky over fraud
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday filed a case against former Goa tourism minister and NCP MLA Mickky Pacheco for his alleged involvement in a money laundering and immigration racket.
The CBI also searched his house in south Goa, but sources could not confirm whether any evidence has been found or not.
Reports had surfaced last week that the US state department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security had informed the ministry of external affairs that Mr Pacheco might be involved in the immigration and money laundering racket operated through his placement agency.
Mr Pacheco, however, had told reporters on Sunday that it was his estranged wife, Sara Pacheco who was running the agency and that he had not been involved in the company for the last four years.
Government sources had said that the Bureau of Diplomatic Security had contacted the MEA around the time Mr Pacheco was incarcerated for his alleged involvement in the mysterious death of his girlfriend Nadia Torrado.
He was in jail from July 9 till July 26, when he was awarded bail.
