CBI case into Ramdev missing guru soon
More trouble seems to be in store for Baba Ramdev with the CBI considering to register a case into the mysterious disappearance of Swami Shankar Dev, founder of yoga guru’s Divya Yog Mandir Trust, this week. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), sources said, has given its go-ahead to the CBI to register a case into the matter.
Sources said, “The Dehra Dun unit of the CBI is likely to register a case into the matter. Immediately after registering a case, the agency will seek the custody of revenue records and all documents related to financial transactions of Divya Yog Mandir Trust”.
“The CBI will also record the statements of Ramdev and Balkrishna, both are the founder members of the Divya Yog Mandir Trust, in connection with the case. Swami Shankar Dev had gone missing on July 14, 2007 after he went out for a morning walk”, sources said. The FIR is likely to be registered by February 8, sources added.
Ramdev is already under the scanner of the Enforcement Directorate. The agency is probing whether overseas transactions carried out by Ramdev or the trusts associated with him were in conformity with guidelines laid down by the RBI and other regulatory bodies. There are at least 47 companies with whom Ramdev and Balkrishna are allegedly associated with are under the scanner of the ED.
“Documents related to Ramdev’s overseas ashrams, including a health centre located in Scotland, are also being scrutinised by the ED. The agency has already sought information from the authority concerned about the alleged transfer $85,000 in Madagascar island by Ramdev,” sources said. Besides, donations given to trusts are also being probed by the ED.
