CBI charges BCCI chief Srinivasan in Jagan’s case
Hyderabad: The CBI on Tuesday filed a chargesheet against Indian Cements managing director and BCCI president N. Srinivasan for alleged criminal conspiracy and cheating in the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s illegal investments case.Three separate chargesheets were filed by the CBI led by DIG H. Venkatesh in the special court for CBI cases at Gaganvihar in Nampally in connection with conspiracies pertaining to India Cements, Raghu-ram (Bharathi Cements) and Penna Cements.YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, two IAS officials, M. Samuel and Aditya Nath Das, retired IAS official B. Krupanandam, industrialist Penna Pratap Reddy, promoter director of Raghuram Cements J. Jaganmohan Reddy and others were named as accused in the chargesheet.A total of 25 accused, including individuals and companies, were named in the three chargesheets.
Principal secretary of irrigation department Aditya Nath Das has been named for the first time in the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy case.Sources said that the CBI will file a final chargesheet in connection with the Lepakshi Knowledge Hub on September 14.Five chargesheets had been filed in the Jagan Mohan Reddy illegal investments case earlier. Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy and his auditor Vijay Sai Reddy figured as Accused No. A-1 and A-2 in all three chargesheets.Former mines director V.D. Rajagopal, who was also named in Gali Janardhan Reddy’s Obulapuram Mining Company scam and in earlier chargesheets, has been named as accused in the Raghuram Cements case too.Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s counsel Ashok Reddy said, “Following Supreme Court directions, three chargesheets have been filed. CBI filed these chargesheets in the Penna, Raghuram and India Cements cases.CBI has informed the court that it will be filing the final chargesheet after three days. Sections of criminal conspiracy under 120 B and 420 IPC (cheating) were filed.”Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is currently in jail, is likely to move his bail application on September 16 in the Nampally criminal courts, Mr Ashok Reddy said.The CBI, in the chargesheet, has alleged that India Cements had invested `140 crore in Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s group of companies and had received several benefits in the form of permissions for utilising additional water from Kagna and Krishna rivers and lease of land.The CBI, in the Penna Cements chargesheet, has alleged that Pratap Reddy, chairman of the Penna Group, had conspired with others and participated in quid pro quo investments of `68 crore through his companies PR Energy, Penna Cements and Pioneer Holdings in Hyderabad into Carmel Asia of Bengaluru and Jagati Publication of Hyderabad. He had received benefits in the form of alienation of government land measuring 231.09 acre in Anantapur district, grant of prospecting licence over an extent of 304.7 hectare in Kurnool district, renewal of mining lease over 821 acre in Ranga Reddy district, extending relaxations and benefits to his hotel project in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.In the Raghuram Cements case, it has been alleged that there were grave irregularities in granting mining lease for limestone over an extent of 2,037.52 acre in Kadapa district to the company owned by Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy.
