CBI court rejects Shah bail
A designated Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Friday rejected the bail plea of former Gujarat minister of state for home Amit Shah, a prime accused in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.
The court while denying bail to Shah, noted that if the accused is granted bail then he may use his political influence and pressurise the witnesses and may create hurdles in the investigation which is at a crucial stage.
The court also noted that considering the statements of witnesses recorded under Sections 161 and 164, there is substantial evidence against Shah in the case, which involves staged killing of gangster Sohrabuddin and subsequent murder of his wife Kauser Bi by policemen from Gujarat and Rajasthan in November 2005.
Earlier, the counsel for the CBI, Mr K.T.S. Tulsi, had submitted that Amit Shah may pressurise the witnesses or tamper with evidence in the case if he is granted bail.
