CBI cross-checks Balwa, Kanimozhi statements on 2G
The CBI is now cross-checking the facts disclosed by Shahid Usman Balwa of Swan Telecom (now Etisalat-DB Telecom Private Ltd) with the leads emerging out from the questioning of TN CM M. Karunanidhi’s wife Dayalu Ammal and daughter Kanimozhi in connection with the 2G spectrum scam.
According to sources questioning of Ms Kanimozhi, who is also a member of the Rajya Sabha, and Dayalu Ammal has provided some vital clues to the investigating agency. Now the agency is comparing it with the recorded statement of Mr Balwa, sources added. Both were questioned by the agency about the `200 crore loan which was reportedly given by Balwa’s Swan Telecom to Kalaignar TV.
Meanwhile, the CBI has sent a reminder to Mauritius for its cooperation in the 2G spectrum scam.

‘Pak rejects Indian probe team visit’
Azaz Syed
ISLAMABAD
March 13: Pakistan has declined an Indian request to send over an inquiry commission to interrogate the seven Pakistanis arrested here in connection with the Mumbai terror attacks, sources have told DawnNews.
“There is no law under which we could allow the Indian investigators to grill the seven accused, who are already in judicial custody,” a senior interior ministry official said.
In the first week of March, India sent a letter expressing its willingness to allow a commission set up by a Pakistani court to visit India to record witnesses in India.
Indian home minister P. Chidambaram told journalists on March 2 that “we have sent them a request asking them if they would agree to a team from India to question the people who are suspects”.
