CBI gets fresh custody of Jagan
Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday granted CBI a two-day custody of YSR Congress Party chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for further questioning in the disproportionate assets case.
The court allowed CBI to question him on Saturday and Sunday. It had earlier remanded Jagan in CBI custody for five days from June 3 to 7.
CBI had said further interrogation was needed as it got more evidence against Jagan. Its lawyer said the investigating agency wanted to confront Jagan with the fresh evidence.
Jagan, the son of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, was arrested on May 27.
CBI, in its three chargesheets, alleged Jagan and his father hatched a conspiracy to defraud the government and Jagan influenced his father in doling out favours to certain firms which made investments in Jagan's businesses as a quid-pro-quo.
