CBI gives Tata, Datacom clean chit
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday gave a clean chit to Tata Teleservices and Datacom of Videocon in the 2G scam case but informed the Supreme Court that the probe against another company was continuing in the wake of three arrested company officials retracting their statement which was recorded by the CBI.
Hinting that the three arrested officials could even turn approvers, CBI counsel K.K. Venugopal told a bench comprising Justices G.S. Singhvi and A.K. Ganguly that in the wake of their “resiling” from their statement in the Delhi high court during arguments on bail the agency has left the probe open against the firm.
He said the probe relating to off-loading shares of a front company in favour of two companies based abroad was being probed through letters rogatory sent to Mauritius and Switzerland.
