CBI to grill Bansal in the next 2 days
The CBI is all set to question former railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal either on Tuesday or Wednesday over its probe into the “Railgate” bribery scandal.
Agency sources said the former minister will “initially be confronted with transcripts of telephonic conversations between his nephew Vijay Singla, Mahesh Kumar (the suspended Railway Board member) and Narayan Rao Manjunath”.
The questioning is likely either on Tuesday or Wednesday at the CBI headquarters here, the sources said, adding recording of statements of all the accused was now over.
Mr Bansal is also likely to be asked specific questions on railway ministry appointments made during his tenure.
“The agency is examining documents on appointments made by Mr Bansal in the last six months. The role of at least three officials associated with the minister’s office, including his private secretary Rahul Bhandari, is under the scanner,” the sources said.
It has been established that Mr Singla was in regular touch with Mr Bhandari and two other officials in the minister’s office.
Mr Singla was also in regular touch with two Railway Board members, sources said, adding that they will also be called in for questioning on Wednesday.
