CBI licence allotment fir likely
The CBI, which has completed its investigation into the preliminary enquiry (PE) registered to probe alleged criminal aspects in the allotment of spectrum licences since 2001, may file a First Information Report (FIR) in this regard.
While refusing to divulge details of the probe’s findings, sources said, “There will not be big surprises in the FIR, if it is filed.” Final decision will be taken only after discussing the matter at higher level, sources said. The agency may mention alleged irregularities during the stint of former communications minister Dayanidhi Maran (2004-07) in its report, sources added.
The agency also examined the allocation made during the stints of former communications ministers during the National Democratic Alliance regime — late Pramod Mahajan and Arun Shourie. The PE was registered with to ascertain.
