CBI likely to file 4th chargesheet

The CBI is now preparing to file its fourth chargesheet against some former BSP leaders and top officials of the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government in the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam, in the first week of June. The agency is also planning to file its first chargesheet in two murder cases related to the NRHM on Tuesday.
Sources in the agency said, “The agency is likely to file its fourth chargesheet in the NRHM scam in the first week of June. Names of certain former BSP leaders and some former officials of the Uttar Pradesh Small Industries Corporation (UPSIC) will be mentioned as accused in the chargesheet.”
Till now, more than a dozen officials belonging to various services have been arrested in the NRHM scam. Former family welfare minister Babu Singh Kushwaha and former BSP MLA R.P. Jaiswal are also among those arrested and lodged in Dasna jail. The NRHM scam has also led to six unnatural deaths of CMOs, deputy CMO and related officials.
“The agency will also mention the names of some employees of Construction and Design Services (C&DS) , a unit of UP Jal Nigam, in its fourth chargesheet. Probe has revealed that at least three officials of the department were allegedly close to P.K. Jain (former general manager of C&DS). Mr Jain has already been arrested by the CBI in the NRHM scam and he is now in judicial custody,” sources said. The agency has already registered a case against Mr Jain for allegedly causing a loss of `5.46 crores in the upgradation work of 134 district hospitals in UP, sources added.
Sources further said, “Probe has established that `13.4 crores was given to C&DS for the upgradation work of 134 districts hospitals. The C&DS of the state government in connivance with three officials allegedly awarded contracts to certain firms on the basis of bogus and forged documents.”
Meanwhile, the agency is all set file its first chargesheet in the murders of two CMOs, V.K. Arya and B.P. Singh, on Tuesday.
