CBI may arrest more Gujarat cops
The CBI is likely to arrest some more officials of the Gujrat police in connection with probe into the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, in which former Gujarat’s minister of state (home) Amit Shah is also an accused.
According to sources, interrogation of Azam Khan, a friend of Sohrabuddin and an important witness in the fake encounter case, has provided certain crucial leads to the investigating agency.
Sources said, “Azam Khan during his questioning by the CBI officials reportedly revealed that a senior IPS officer of the Gujarat police had saved Sohrabuddin in former Gujarat state home minister Haren Pandya’s murder case. Azam had told his interrogators that Abhay Chudasama, who was a member of the Gujarat ATS, had allegedly told him (Azam) that he (Abhay) had saved Sohrabuddin in Haren Pandya murder case. He also alleged that on the instructions of Chudasama, Khan was allegedly kept in detention by some officials of the Gujarat police in Udaipur”. The agency has reportedly identified those police officials who had allegedly followed the instructions of Chudasam and kept Khan in detention without any valid reasons, sources said.
