CBI may quiz two IAS officers

The CBI, probing the multi-crore NRHM scam, is likely to question two serving IAS officers and a retired civil servant of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. Sources said these three officials were holding crucial posts during the Bahujan Samaj Party regime in the state.
The agency has already arrested Pradeep Shukla, former principal secretary (family welfare department) of the state in connection with the case.
“Shukla is not the only IAS officer involved in the scam. Two more serving IAS officers of the Uttar Pradesh cadre are under the scanner of the agency. Besides, role of a retired civil servant is also being probed by the CBI in connection with the NRHM scam,” sources said.
The agency will soon call them for questioning. “These three officers played important role in finalising at least 17 contracts related to the NRHM. The agency is also scrutinising their bank accounts details”, sources said. The CBI sleuths are also analysing their call details, sources said adding they will soon be called for certain clarifications.
The agency may register fresh cases against these three officers, sources added.
The agency, which has so far registered 14 cases in the NRHM scam, has arrested total 10 persons in connection with the case.
Arrested persons include former family welfare minister of state, Babu Singh Kushwaha, former BSP MLA BSP MLA Ram Prasad Jaiswal, G.K. Batra, managing director of a company which supplied instruments to government hospitals covered by NRHM.
Meanwhile, the CBI, which is probing two murder cases related to the NRHM scam, is set to question former health minister of Uttar Pradesh, Anant Mishra, in a day or two. “The agency recently collected some fresh documents, related to two murder cases, from the offices of certain chief medical officers (CMOs) in the state. The agency officials want certain clarification from the former health minister in this regard”, sources said.
