CBI might quiz telco reps on 2G
The CBI is likely to question representatives of certain private telecom companies again in connection with its probe into the 2G spectrum scam. The CBI is also expected to make some “significant arrests” very soon.
According to sources, certain telecom companies who were in the race for 2G allotment have also been asked to submit some documents to the Central probe agency. The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is also probing the scam, has already started questioning of the representatives of private telecom companies, sources added. The ED has also registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act against unknown officials of the department of telecommunications (DoT) and unknown private companies in connection with the award of new telecom licences in 2008. The CBI registered a case saying there was a largescale corruption in the allocation of 2G radio spectrum licences last year.
Sources further said, “The CBI may also question predecessors of Mr A. Raja very soon.”
