The agency recently filed chargesheet against former DG ordnance factory, Sudipta Ghosh, his wife and 10 others in a corruption case. The CBI in its chargesheet filed in Kolkata initially named only two Indian firms and there was no mention of the foreign companies. The former DG and others were chargesheeted for offences of criminal conspiracy, habitual demand and acceptance of illegal gratification, criminal misconduct and abatement to the said offences, sources added. Sources said that the names of foreign firms came up during the course of investigation.
The agency had registered a case on May 17, 2009, under different Sections of the Prevention of the Corruption Act against Mr Ghosh and others. There were allegations that Mr Ghosh had entered into criminal conspiracy with other accused with the object of demanding and obtaining huge illegal gratification.
