CBI not to file fresh case on Babri report
The CBI may not file fresh case on the findings of the Liberhan Commission report which indicted 68 people, including BJP stalwarts Atal Behari Vajpayee and L.K. Advani, in the demolition of the Babri Masjid. The agency, however, will go into the details of some incidents as pointed out by the Union home ministry.
According to sources there are certain points that need to be probed further which would be done in due course of time. The report is still with the CBI and has not been not been returned to the Union Home Ministry, sources added.
Recently, a meeting between the CBI and the home ministry officials was held during which the agency said that prima facie there did not seem to be an iota of evidence to register a fresh case. The CBI officials who attended the meeting said there was no further evidence projected by the commission that warranted a fresh case of a supplementary chargesheet, sources said.
