CBI opposes bail petition of Kalmadi
The Central Bureau of Investigation has opposed the bail application of sacked Commonwealth Games (CWG) Organising Committee (OC) chief Suresh Kalmadi and submitted before a Special CBI court that his conduct has tarnished the image of the country. Kalmadi was arrested by the CBI along with OC joint director general (Sport)
A.S.V. Prasad and OC deputy director general (Procurement) Surjit Lal on April 25 for their alleged involvement in awarding an illegal contract to a Swiss firm for TSR system for the mega sporting event last year causing a loss of over `100 crore to the public exchequer.
